I aquired an 85 t-type last december and its halfway through restoration but im gonna be 16 in january and its gonna be my vehicle and ive been around fast cars all my life so i want it to be fast but still yet streetable. when the motor comes out im going full roller but i was wondering what kind of cam and other things like that i need enternally and any good reasonably priced bolt ons. any suggestions are very helpful to me.

thanks'

First thing i would do is convert it over to a 86-87 style turbo-intercooler set-up. But thats me

yeah well i thought about that but i was wondering if i could bend a different set of tubes to put my own intercooler in there from the stock location but thats alot of pipe
i also am converting to the 86-87 ecm so i can run my scantool

whataya think it would cost to convert i mean like i said ill be 16 in january i already got like 1000 invested and im jobless for a while i mean i pick up odd jobs here and there but im not anything full time

keep it hot air.

when you have a job... think about an intercooler later.

and a 208/208 would be perfect for a stock HA

I'm gonna agree with Aj. You're 16 and not being mean, but like all kids you have a lead foot and don't think like the rest of us "old guys". You may have been around lots of "fast cars" but any car can get away from you very easily. Go back stock for now and learn how the car drives first so you don't get hurt. If you want to go intercooled later then do it, but right now start with something simple that will be fun to drive and not break the bank. If you keep her in good condition then when you graduate you can do the mods and make it even more fun.

I agree. Optimize what you have now. That itself ought to remove the money out of your pocket. In my opinion, 16 years old and a turbo (even a hot air)=tickets and/or crashes. You won't need an intercooler for that. Be patient and understand that most of the nicer cars seen here have a substancial budget behind them. No money and no job isn't conducive to the car you are imagining. Hell, I'm 52 and just recently have enough disposible income to waste on a big boy toy.

haha thanks guys and id imagine i wanna go fast but im not like these other teenagers who think a honda who sounds like a herd of west nile mosquitos is fast and i know the race track is where you speed but my dad has an 84 monte carlo with a 540 big block and 1200 horses on an 11.5 tire and trust me that car gets away from him so im gonna drive quite conservatively

haha i wish! but the funny thing is one day maybe i will because i go to a school for automotive technology so i spend half a day in regular classes then go to my favortie classroom the auto shop!! lol

it does 10.40s but that was absolutley no traction with a horrible 2.1 60 ft and letting out of it 3 times it was crazy it was going for the wall so you would bang 2nd and then your going for the center then you bang 3rd and hook again and just hang on for the ride

x2 a turbo buick is not a car for someone w/o a budget!!! This car has taken me to the poor house more than once!!!!!

Hot Air

can run decent. Get it all tuned up and running good on moderate boost. First chance you get add a razor alky kit and a adjustable wastegate. ;) Then start saving some money for the trans.:biggrin:

what kind of trans should i have? and whats an adjustable waste gate go for? but when i do rebuild the motor it will be mostly stock and me nor my dad dont wanna put a beat up turbo on a fresh 0 mile motor so whats a good stock-ish turbo and what kinda boost is streetable while i have your guys attention?

well i bought a brf trans from a guy here on the board in columbus i havent put it in yet because my car projects been sidelined for my pickup truck project but you gotta remember im gonna be on the streets alot more than the track so an overdrive is aniceeee piece
