Lubbock Dragway

After being closed for 1.5 years, it appears that Lubbock Dragway will actually be ready to reopen this Spring. A new surface is supposed to be put down imminently.

The concrete that was poured in 2008 was done extremely poorly (criminally, it would seem based on what was actually done). It had to be torn out. The case has been in litigation since late 2008 but it seems that everything is going forward now for getting the track running again with a new surface and some new electronics.

Maybe someone even closer to the situation than I can keep this updated here as needed.

Same to you, Ron. There's also rumor (with some actual info) that the new owners of the Town & Country Airport near 114th Street are exploring the feasibility of also using it as a drag strip. Problems: any normal stands and timeboards would be a hazard (maybe illegal) to the little planes landing! Stay tuned on this. This would probably be another punch in the gut to Dennis (Lubbock Dragway) when he least needs it.
