I'm getting my trans rebuilt at the moment for a street/maybe strip car. The shop asked if I wanted to get Kolene. Of course, I researched this board to find out they were not recommended (thanks Bruce). Is this still the current opinion? The thread I checked was about a year old. Thanks.

soft clutches such as the alto reds like kolene steels when used in clutch packs that carry an upshifting torque load as well as stock steels and hard clutches such as the blue plates hate kolene steels in clutch packs that carry an upshifting torque load .the hard surface of kolene if thats what you want to call it causes a slide shift when combined with the blue plate frictions equally hard surface. it is similar to a car with wet brake rotors in that although the caliper is applying maximum force to the rotor ,the car takes longer to stop .hence the slide .www.ckperformance.com
