That first line describes my son to a T. That is until he gets hanging around some of his not so good friends and then his direction can get off track if he's not careful. Thankfully he's at least headed in the right way with just minor corrections needed.
I have to disagree a little about the generation thing. It's not the kids themselves but the environment this generation is coming of age in. There is no innocence any more and if there is, the other kids are merciless.
""""""""About God and going to church. They are not necessarily the same thing. God can be everywhere but if you are not open to him, you can't find him, and if you can't find him in a church then you know what that church is? Just a building.""""""""
On that last train of thought, you're right, there are a lot of people that have no business being parents and a large part of our problems do stem from Marxist/Socialist ideas such as "It takes a village". No, it takes parents. The support, but not the meddling, of the village would be nice though.
My thought on the whole thing is based on "you reap what you sow" with the following stipulation. A good tree may (on occasion) bear bad fruit but a bad tree won't bear good fruit.
