ignition/injector timing

Can someone explain how the cam sensor, crank sensor, C3I module and ECU get together on this?
Rising edge, falling edge, both? how do they sychronize? Why 25 degrees after TCD for cam sensor? Dwell? Advance, retard. What signal from ECU to C3I?
Every other part of this car I understand. Even how the clearcoat bonds to the basecoat. This ignition and injector timing is a mystery still. Voodoo magic?

There is a write up here:Tom Chou's Cam Sensor explanation There's still some questions he doesn't answer about injector timing, but he wrote this up years ago. Seems to me there should be an "update" for some of these things.
