Does your cowl have an indent or space where the antenna rubber connection plug lines up? I just got mine back from the powdercoaters and it won't lie flat. I don't think it is warped or bent and looks straight. There is a definite 'hump' where the rubber antenna connection boot is.

Sure does! Had to drill the main hole as well as the 2 smaller holes for the mounting screws. Post up a pic so we can take a look at it!

Sorry Vader I meant the cowl metal molding. I drilled the 3 holes in the cowl no problem, but my issue is when I put the metal cowl molding back on it is not flush anymore with the windshield because of the rubber antenna connector. I was wondering if cars originally equipped with the windshield antenna had a space or indent for the connector.

I am going to add to this post as I just experienced the same problem as GNICETRY. The new GM and AC Delco replacements under part# 19353093 are made incorrectly. The coax connection at the cowl is pointing the wrong way! It is pointing up instead of down. I would highly advise anyone reading this planning to do the swap to look for a good used one.

Thank you GNVAIR. I’m glad to know I’m not crazy.

On a side note the windshield antenna works real well when you are near a City, not so great in a rural setting. You have to order a windshield for a 1981-1984 Regal, as of 1985 they don’t show a windshield with an antenna available.

I had a 78 Malibu and an 86 C10 with the windshield antenna and they both worked extremely well. If you have looked at new vehicles you will find that many manufacturers have copied the technology and have the antennas in the rear window or stationary rear side glass. I did some research and found the windshield is the same on all the A/G body 2 doors from 78-88 so any 78-83 or 84 with the antenna will work.

Hey I may have a couple of used ones, if you guys need one. I can check tonight.
