How to check PCV valve?

Where is it located? How can I determine that it is functioning correctly? Plan on replacing it before upgrading my turbo...

PCV is located on floor of intake, pass side mid point, under the heater rails. To check it remove it & shake (do not stir! & if the ball moves freely it should be fine. If its all gunked up just get a new one for a few $$

Its under the upper intake just pull it out and see if your finger gets sucked onto it.
