I'm thinking around 22 pounds...am I ballpark? Just want to know how high I can turn up the boost on alchy and still be pretty safe.

With a sound engine, a good tune, and monitoring, I've seen boost creep to 32# with no issues. The stock headgaskets are like everything else, always tune for NO KNOCK!!! Detonation is the killer.

I thought I was at 28#, but the datalogger shows 30+, highmileage STOCK longblock, gaskets & 11's in the thin air:D

head gaskets

I ran 30lbs for over two years on a high mileage un-opened engine and had zero issues. Always watching for knock though!

2nd screw on a 30 lb autometer gauge :D

Understand candle that burns so bright does not burn for long. Alky/Race gas/ etc.. you put a lot of squeeze.. you reduce how many times you can do it. The big issue is keeping motor out of knock.. meaning proper amount of alcohol and proper amount of fuel.

You can have zero knock and still take out the HG's.. for stock gaskets.. low-mid 20's is fine for a long time.
