Hinckley Ready For Release?

The true intent of locking people up is to not only set an example for others but for the convicted to learn a lesson. To never believe that a person can be reformed is the antithesis of the purpose of the system's intent. However, after writing all that mushy stuff, I say sure he can be released. In fact they can all be released, provided they apply for and are accepted for citizenship in another country. They are no longer welcome in America. Sorry, you lose. Time for some hardball.

BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER

"Several of Hinckley's day trips around Washington have been with Leslie deVeau, a former patient at St Elizabeth's who was found not guilty by reason of insanity of the murder of her 10-year-old daughter, Erin, in 1982.

Court documents said the couple's relationship "has reportedly changed from romantic to platonic". DeVeau, 49, has been released from St Elizabeth's but visits Hinckley every week."

(Plus, Hinckley learned JF was an "L-bo" a few years ago...)

The point of prisons was set as a punishment, not to rehabilitate people. During the 60's the whole focus, due to liberal thinking was to reform these derelicts into productive citizens. The success rate is a complete failure. Most tend to hone there skills while in prison rather than reform. Hinkley is the poster child for what a failure this whole philosophy is. After he is released (and I'm sure he will be) his chances of doing harm to someone is very great. These people always say whatever they need to in order to get out. Ask George Dukakis about his thoughts now on Willie Horton. If Hinkley is now sane enough to be considered socially acceptable, then he now should face the charges for a crime he committed. Attempted murder of a president and you walk after 20 years in a nut farm? Welcome to America, and a liberal court system that tries to make law, rather than apply the law. Hinkley going free? Sure, why not. We allow priest to continue to stay with kids in the church. Mark
