My 1987 GNX was stolen from a garage I had it stored in. I am the original owner. It was stolen out of Staten Island , New York . Unfortunately, I don’t even know when it was stolen. due to sickness in the family I haven’t seen the car since last year. The car only had 000,058 original miles on it. I purchased the car with GMAC financing. Until I got my own house with a nice size garage, I had the car stored. Well, as of yet I did not get that house but I always knew that some day I would & at that time I knew I would enjoy my car. Now here it is 17 years later (17 yrs! I stored my car) & I will never get to enjoy it. I can’t tell you how upset I am. I need everybody’s help I can get to try & get my car back. So any help or word you can get out will be greatly appreciated. I am offering a
5,000 to $10,000 REWARD for the return of the car in the condition it was in. I am also offering rewards for info on any parts from my car (eng. etc.) or info that can be used etc. NO QUESTIONS ASKED! my GNX is #249 VIN#1G4GJ1173HP448440. Please E-mail any information to hurstbuick@aol.com or call 718.698.4490 with any information you may have. THANKS

I'm sorry

I'm sorry to hear about your car. Hopefully someone in the community will notice the car or parts, god forbid. It would be hard for someone to move a car like that without someone not noticing something. Hope you can track it down.

I just realized that thread started in 2004, so its been 8 years since it was stolen. I wonder if he does know? And for 28K? What was the mileage on it now? It had 58 miles on it in '04.

The story I hear is the car was re tagged, and says 36K pic's look like it has the original gatorbacks that look like new?? they must have re tagged it from a car that had 36K?? my guess. I will post pic's when I figure out how to move them.

Recognized the email in the original post as belonging to Steve Hurst (R.I.P.) He was president of the BGNRA in California. Guess he had this posted in his newsletter back then. This should probably be moved to the GNX section and maybe the mystery can be solved. Car is looking pretty sad.

Phone # in the ad IS a NY area code.

Old thread on the other board about this. http://www.turbobuicks.com/forums/waiting-room/23403-gnx-249-reported-stolen.html

OK, guys, called the number and spoke to the original owner for a while! He knew about the GNX and was trying to get it back thru the auction. Told him he should come on the board and post the details. He is heartbroken about he whole deal. Now the mystery is who won the auction??

Hopefully he gets it back as wll as getting the title cleared of salvage and or theft.

He is NOT getting it back! Someone won the auction and insurance company did not work with the original owner when he tried to get it back before the auction.

This is just sad.

I can't believe that he didn't pay closer attention to it when it was stored, even for all those years.

I can't even imagine spending $30K on something I never got to enjoy, after having it my posession for all those years.

I've had a vehicle stolen from me and it was one of the worst days of my life. I feel for this dude.

Is he coming on to the forum to tell his story? I feel for the guy. :(

Does anyone know if the AZ buyer is on this board?
