Fuel Pump Hot Wire Schematics

Ok listen Im very weak on wiring but trying to help a friendi nstall new fuel pump and hot wire kit. He bought a hot wire kit with a circuit breaker and a relay and 10 gauge wire. I helped run the wire from battery thru circuit breaker to back of car where relay is located. What wires from pump harness do we tap into for the relay or is there a drawing of what wires we need to tap into. The center wire on the fuel pump harness is 12 volts with key on and the black is grnd I assume. What is the thinner tan wire on this 3 tang connector. I dont get any voltage when key is on or off. Any help would be appreciated.

3rd wire is for the gas gauge. It's a resisted ground. The wire that gets hot for 2 seconds at key on is the one you want to heat up.
