Forget MAACO. CAR is DONE!

So, after lots of hard decision making and long nights wondering what i should do about the buick, all of you had given me really great feedback and ideas...i even checked out MAACO per my last post and just wasnt satisfied.. Even after doing all the prep myself it was still going to be a pain because the car isnt insured or registered since i had taken it off a few years back (thats going to change SOON)
I said, F' it. I will do it myself. (i remember working for a company in Highschool doing spot repair and bumper spraying with a mobile van) I can do prep really well and so why not just buy the gun. I already had the compressor...So i reached out to my nearest paint jobber and got my IWATA SuperNova... practically painted itself. Stole her for about 450 and with paint i got a discount..everything for about 900 bucks for dupont paint and Nason High Visibility Clear.. enough for 3 layers of clear and 2 layers of base.
Im glad i got her done, so in a few weeks when i get the bumpers back from powder coating WHITE i will post up again soon... plus by then i may have it cut and buffed... hope you guys like her. :)

Had her for 14 years now, and really appreciated it more as a white car when i first got her....black wasnt cutting it anymore..

with enough cutting its should look like a million bucks....there is alot of paint shops charging legs and left and right nuts:eek: to give you the the same results. good for you dude.

Great job!

You will have so much more satisfaction in the fact that you did it all yourself!

Can't wait to see pics when it is all done!

As you can see, she needed alot of work...Originally a Michigan car...i got her years ago..great thing is i was able to spot the damage in the floor before it got worse....floor was soda blasted then epoxy coated wi.. pictures are on friends phone but will get them up eventually.

Looks good so far! I love threads like this.
Are you going to black out the locks and door handles?

Thanks 1quick, i didnt black out the door handle and locks.. I wanted to be just a tad bit different. I like the white and black contrast on the car but the more of just 1 color suits my taste fine. thanks though :)

Keep up the good work:biggrin:

Thanks Frank. Just pulled her outside to get a breath of fresh air on the driveway. Neighbors son practicing soccer kicked ball over the fence and NEARLY hit the fresh paint.. Happy he didnt though. It was a real pain in the butt though, now its over, i can breathe and start to really appreciate the fruits of my labor

Thanks again guys!

BTW if anyone has any black fenderwell trim (i posted up in the classifieds) all 4 in black would be very helpful. Tight on cash at the moment so please make me a decent offer with shipping price to maryland 20853. it would be really appreciated!

Awesome job turbohye. I'm currently stripping all the steel blue metallic paint off my '86 T-Type and it is a pleasureable experience knowing I had a hand in restoring the car and keeping another one alive & kicking
