Yes I know it's a 427ci C5-R block, but my point is this is just the block without a crank, rods, and pistons!!!! By the time you're done buying the $2500 Billet crank, $1000 or so for the rods, and say about $600 for the pistons you will spend over $10K for just the short block!!!! Get the point?

That is not a cheap motor to build!!!!!!

GMpartsdirect has the same block for $6000, plus 300 shipping. they say the gm list price is 8571.43

Yeah and from what I hear the C5-R LS1 cylinder heads (PN:12480090 and PN:12480005) are pretty expensive as well and you will also need a custom sheetmetal intake for one of these motors.... There is a guy on www.ls1tech.com that goes by the name "Colonel" who is having MTI build him a 434ci C5-R LS1 motor for his 3000-3200lb w/ driver Camaro and his goals are 8's NA.... The motor has very high compression (think it was something like 15.0:1 or 15.5:1 CR or maybe even higher) and will only run on race gas with a FAST system and WB O2 sensor!
