Finally, My 1964 Max Wedge...

Very nice Donnie. Glad to see it finally but I thought the Maxi Wedge had a wider intake. I saw one of the original racing intakes this year at a swap meet that put the carbs almost in the fenders but I thought the stock one put the carbs over the vlave covers. Not to familiar with Mopars though.

Hey Charlie,
You are correct. The older style was wider. This is a late 60's aftermarket 2 piece. I was much more street friendly and makes AWESOME power. Here are some more pics.

It ain't fair

I hope the next time you post on this BIG BAD car it will be in the video section with SOUND!

Only pic of my '64 Plymouth!

This was my Max-Wedge that kicked ass on Dodge, Chevy and Ford in the day!

It was almost new here with the Atlas Bucron sticky street tires.

I did get beat once by Ronnie Sox, but just by a fender with his Hemi.

The scooped hood is part of the alum front end package.

I really like it Donnie. One of these days I might get to see it in person. I've always been a fan of the older cars and my first car was almost a Mopar. Things would've been much different if I had though.

Mr Coach:

Quick story.....do you by any chance know Don Owens (passed away few years back)....he lived near me and had one of those Max Wedge cars...matter of fact he had the air cleaner stacks reproduced by the same c ompany that makes some of our Turbo Buick parts today....think they were called velocity stacks?

I know they were for the Max Wedge engines.....his car was red....similar vintage to yours....

Just curious...

Hey Dennis,
There is a Don Owens that is a member of my Mopar forum. I talk to him all the time. Dont know where he was from. He may be related. Ill ask.
My dad is the Max Wedge and Hemi guru. He raced a 64 Hemi car all over the Youngstown Ohio and western Pa area in the mid 60's. It was black with red interior and was the same model. It was called The Black Bastard. As the story goes, I bought this car for him and traded it for my 62 409, which he owned at the time(1993). Well since then, he had a stroke a while back and it was signed over to me and he just fries the tires and kills engines and tells me, hey it needs a motor...parents, cant live with'em and mom wont shoot'em...LOL
