EGT's before turbo?

Im tuning my FAST classic system on my GN engine, and I'm a little concerned with my EGT's. My last race across the line the high was 1650 degrees. My probe is at the bottom of the turbo where both pipes combine, and here is my set up:
240ci TA block, GN1 heads, 8.7:1 comp, solid roller 228@ 50, Turbonetics T70 .81 exh housing, ball bearing, 20 PSI, AF ratio set at 11.6:1, 83 lb injectors 68-72% duty cycle ran 9.38@142

Any thoughts if the temps are too high, just right, etc? thanks

When I was racing regularly, it was very common for my EGT gauge to tickle the 1650* mark.
Back then I was running 114 race gas, high boost (28), high timing (25-26). The warning light on my gauge starts blinking at 1650, and usually started blinking a couple hundred feet before the line.

You could try a slightly richer a/f. maybe 11.4-11.5

For what it's worth I used to tune almost solely by my egt, and the car always ran the fastest when the egt was 1650-1700 pre-turbo. I would add some fuel and see what your trap mph does.
