EGT probe

Hi guys does anyone know how far a K type probe should stick into the exhaust stream for a good egt reading? I'm looking for a min.

Measuring the temp of any fluid - gas or liquid - is generally most accurate & repeatable when the probe tip is nearer the center of the pipe.

I am using the 1/8th omega probe, but looks like I can only get just under 3/4" (.7") of the probe in the pipe. Would that be good enough?
