Does size really matter?

Is there any point in running a SUBSTANTIALLY bigger filter than stock (biggies, t savers). If you maintain short oil change intervals is there any real benefit besides less pressure drop?

You just said part of it.More flow.
Can't hurt the engine.
Oil pumps,are just that,pumps.
They take H.P to drive.
Relieve the restriction to flow and they can do their job more efficiently. This results in:
Lower timing chain wear.
Lower pump wear.
Less aeration and heating of the oil.
Less wear on the C/S drive gear and thrust washers.
How much of a gain depends on who hard you work the engine, but there is always a gain.
Your engine will know.A good stock oiling system with radiused passages and a larger filter will keep your engine happy.
If you think of your oiling system in the same terms as your airflow system in your car,you won't go too far wrong.
