Do I need to change a pump valve to run this PTC NLU?

I switched from a 9/11 lockup to a PTC nonlockup converter and my trans temp runs pretty high now even with a trans cooler. I saw there is something called a nonlockup valve, what does this do - and do I need one?

If you go from lock up to nlu you need that valve for your pump. I'm no guru so I don't know what it does but I bet a search will provide that info.

7-ccv summit has them ,
the NL valve can go in by dropping the pan and pulling the lockup solenoid and then remove the original lockup valve and spring and replace with the NL parts , but you also need to pull the check valve and oring from the input end of the transmission , so the trans and converter needs to come back off

What you are doing with the valve is giving the converter circuit better fluid flow

Thanks, that write-up is awesome. What is less awesome is I have to remove my transmission again.

What would happen if you run a NLU converter without doing this?
