Crank Reference Angle Max

It there a maximum amount of CRA that should not be exceeded. I understand that there must be atleast 10 over your max timing value, but what about having a reference angle of 70 or 80 degrees to achieve proper rotor phasing? Is there any down side to this?

IN my case we have the rotor phased at 30 degrees (Max Torque) and the CRA at 65 degrees. This seems to be high by comparision most people seem to have theres around 53 degrees that I have seen. If this is truly just a reference it really should not matter should it? I am planning on running no more than 40 degrees of advance in the table at any RPM/MAP combo.

Just Curious,
Doug

As long as you have the rotor phasing correct, there's no down side to a higher reference angle. The ECU will let you set it as high as 63 degrees, but the only reason you would ever NEED to set it that high is to accomodate an advance curve with very high timing numbers in it.
