Car won't shut off after starting!!!Help!!!

My car was vandalized recently and the thieves broke my carguard steering lock. Due to the severity of the damage I was forced to replace the entire steering column. Now the car will start but it will not shut off and disconnecting the battery will kill the motor but if reconnected the fuel pump and injectors continue to run. If anyone has any idea that can help my mechanic get my car back on the road I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance

If the column was from the same type/year then it should just be a straight forward remove and replace. That being covered then you either have a pinched/shorted wire, or the lock cylinder or switch itself could be bad but my money would probably be on the rod that runs between the switch and cylinder having just slipped out of place during handling.

Perhaps the replacement column has has a bad ignition switch.
