Bolingbrook Clow International Airport is busy planning a unique event to be held Oct. 3. FLIGHTFEST
130 S. Clow International Parkway
Bolingbrook, Illinois 60440

From 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day, the airport will host FlightFest, an event designed to blend "the excitement of aviation with the fun of Oktoberfest," according to organizers.

During the day, there will be free airplane rides from 9 a.m. to noon for children 8 to 17 years old through the Young Eagles program. A&M Aviation will also offer plane rides that day.

A craft show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and a car show will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Illinois Aviation Museum at the airport will be open throughout the festival.

Of course, having an Oktoberfest theme means the event will feature quite a bit for the stomach. There will be German food and beer, a wine tasting offered by WineStyles of Bolingbrook and more. Participants may also bring their own food and beverages to the event.

There will also be musical entertainment. Scramble will play from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and Manhattan Project will play from 8 to 10 p.m. A disc jockey from Better Than a Juke Box will also provide entertainment during the festival.

In addition, there will be a climbing wall, a trackless train, inflatable moon jumps, a bonfire and more.

Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children 11 years old and younger. Those entering will then get $5 worth of food coupons.
