Will the helicoil hold as well or better? I have heard that it will hold better than new. Can you retorque after a couple of heat cycles? If you had to rebuild do you have to helicoil the hole again? How excatly does it work and what does the helicoil do once you remove the bolt? Any info helpful?

When a Helicoil takes properly it will be stronger than the original threads since it is a larger diameter and has more surface area to hold on to and is also a better material than the cast iron or aluminum it is being inserted into.

As far as being reused, if it doesn't back out with the bolt, it is fine and you can reuse it as many times as you like untill or if it does ever back out.
