Can the TCC solenoid be checked w/o removing the pan?? if so how?

I can't get the trans (400r4 -87 GN) to downshift at WOT. TV is working and at correct setting, ecm/sol fuse not blown. Trans has been working okay for months-then NO downshifts! Other than no ds's all else work fine. Any help appreciated.

When the tt fails, it locks the converter so when you come to stop the car shutters and can stall. You can unplug it to see if that stops the issue but I don't think that is your problem.

Guess the next step is to drop the vb and check the downshift components? Governors springs and check balls are where they are supposed to be.

Maybe contact one of the transmission experts we have here.

Yes it can do the search one wire to ground and one to 12v and it should click. You need a quite area click is faint.
