Can the Main accessory bracket be repaired?

My Bro’s Main accessory bracket has 2 hair line cracks.
Can they be welded?

Yes. I had mine welded because it broke also. One thing though it has to be perfectly clean. I'm pretty sure its made from cast aluminum. A good friend of mine welded it up for me. I used alot of ether to help clean the oil and other debris from 20+ years.

Its been 2 years since I had it welded and no problems.

Just talk to a good tig welder and you should be able to have it welded up.

No problem with the welding !! Have it sandblasted before and make sure u put all the bolts back even the ones missing if any !!

It is not good to sandblast it before TIG welding. The best is to use a wire brush or better a carbide diegrinder. Sand can stick in the soft aluminum and when you TIG weld it those sand specks sound and act like mini firecrackers. You can blow them out with compressed air but it doesn't take but one or two to mess up a nice weld.

Sandblasting after welding would be good.
Just learning to TIG weld on my own, and was warned about sandblasting but didn't listen at first.
