So I've been chasing an engine noise since my cam install. Pinpointed it to the cam sensor and removed it. Currently getting .045 of vertical movement out of the sensor and was wondering what the stock spec was? Thanks.

I'm not sure there is a vertical spec...or even a horizontal one for that matter. If you look at the sensor, you'll see that there is a wave washer installed down near the drive gear which allows for a decent amount of up and down play. However, if you have any lateral or horizontal movement of the shaft, that would be more of a concern. That would indicate the bronze bushing has worn or some other issue. That said, they can be rebuilt. I'm sure GNS Performance will chime in here.

I used to set up V-8 distributors with .010-.020 and never had a problem but have not done one on our cars yet.

Yea most of the posts I've seen on shimming the sensor say to shoot for .010, I'll try to find some shims locally and see if that works. I would hate for the sound to be a bad lifter.
