Hey guys looks like it's time for me to do a nice front brake job...I want to use Hawk Pads, and slotted rotors...Problem is the rotors I found for our cars a $100 a piece!!! Does any one know where I can get some cheaper??

I would really like to get the 2 piston replacement calipers that SSBC has...but I can't afford $400 bucks...They bolt right up and fit in 15" wheels.

I got AutoZone rotors, non-slotted. Work fine. $28 each. PFC pads, about $27 for both sides.

VERY NICE units! :)

If it's worth anything, I'd start saving for something better than the slotted rotors. I've got cross drilled rotors on the WH1. I don't drive the car terribly hard and have them both slightly warped and didn't really notice any difference in stopping power over stockers. Oh, in less than 2,000 miles too. The brakes on these cars just aren't up to the abuse. For my car I'm considering the B body swap because I'm cheap and replacement parts are available every day:D.

Na I'm pretty set on the setup I'm looking at...Slotted rotors (cross-drilled have to many problems for me), Aggressive pads (probably Hawk), and after the pads wear out I'm going to spring for the SSBC 2 piston replacment calipers w/the quick change pads.

I'm still looking for some cheaper slotted rotors I can't see spending $220 dollars on rotors alone.

Wonder if we can find a better price on them than $400.00?

Does anyone else carry them for less?

If you're set on sticking with the stock size brakes, I would highly recommend using the Porterfield R4-S pads. They are incredible pads with great stopping power.

I recently put Hawk pads on my other car (Ford Escort) and I'm really disappointed with the results. They stop well when hot, but any other time they just don't grab very well. OTOH, I've used Porterfield before on another car and they totally transformed the car with superb braking under all conditions. They also make R4-S rear brake shoes for our cars, which I installed on my wagon. I have Performance Friction Z pads on the front of my wagon with the 12" B-body upgrade (came with the kit), and those are also better than the Hawks, IMHO.

That's where I was looking last night...Was hoping to find something a little cheaper.

HERE"S THE TICKET!

Call Randy at the 1-800 # given here.

Tell him you want slotted (not drilled) Brembo rotors.

(Brembo is probably the BEST rotor made.)

Tell him you were referred by a friend of Gene Fulton's.

That WILL be your BEST price on the BEST slotted rotor.

Have purchased from Randy many times. His wife even met me with parts on Christmas Eve around 7-8 years ago. No worries.

How much, and where can I get the Porterfields??

I would order directly from the Porterfield website or their 800 number. Great direct service.

They are not cheap, but they are worth every penny. I think I paid about $65-70 for a set of rear shoes for my wagon (which has a GN rear end). Front pads should run around the same.

And BTW, I agree with the suggestion on Brembo rotors. I used them on another car and they worked out great.
