Brake Proportioning valve

Guys,
I got a piece of advice that I might need a Brake Proportioning Valve to hold more boost on the line. I've already got the Kirban soft shoes on the car, and had the drums turned, but I can only hold 1 or 2 pounds at best on the line. So, if I get a valve which one? JC Whitney has them for around $29.00 and so does Summit Racing. But before I get one and figure out that I got the wrong one I wanted to just check and see what I could learn from the board. Suggestions? - T

I've got the summit valve but haven't figured out how to tune it yet. it says increase and decrease on it but i haven't figured out what it increases or decreases. i did it for stoping power, and it seems like too much is going to the front.
