Has anyone successfully used an adjustable air regulator like the ones for an external wastegate to control a stock type wastegate from inside the car? I have switched from delta gate to stock gate and have all the plumbing in place.

Bought a bleeder valve system years ago from Summit I think??
Works fine. 1 turn = 1 pound boost.
Mounted under the steering wheel. Use an adjustable on the Turbo & this one fine tunes it.
Hope this is what you were looking for??

Maybe another question would be what is the difference between the way a bleeder valve works and an adjustable air regulator works ( as used with external wastegates)?

I think it depends on your combo.
I have tried every combination of bleeder/relief/solenoid/y-connector I can imagine, but I ALWAYS have unacceptable spike. I am now convinced that my stock turbo and setup spools too quickly for these devices to "keep up". Many with bigger turbos report good results from both relief and bleeders. Your times indicate same so you may be good, IMO.
