Best starter.

So I went home and double checked.

http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-10547-chevy-buick-pontiac-jeep-mini-starter-long-short-mt-sdr0059.aspx is what I bought twice, Same as ek02.

My buddy needed a starter before I installed the first one I bought so I gave it to him. Then I bought another for my swap. Both have worked flawlessly for over 2 years and, as I said, one is on a high compression small block Chevy that gets hot pretty easily.

BTW, I bought this on the advice of another board member who was impressed with the one he bought.

Ive put on four of these in the last month or two. All replaced big GM units. Great buy!

If you are used to dealing with Amazon (like I am) you can buy the exact same starter at the same price. It's also free shipping. Unfortunately, it's not Prime eligible.

These $50.00 starters have plastic gears inside them. If you look at the Kirban starter you will see that it is Identical. Why is it more expensive? Because it has metal gears inside it. If you go to a salvage yard and ask for a starter for a 1996 Corvette, you'll have the most powerful starter money can buy. The one I bought cost $50.00. This is the LT4 that some have mentioned. Here is a link to the LT4 so you know what it looks like. If you use one of these, you will likely have to fabricate an extension wire for the 2 wires, from the wiring harness, that connect to the large terminal with the positive battery cable.

LT4 or LT1.... I have both but prefer LT4. Got from Advance with coupon. Works great. Need longer bolts

One of the best changes i made to my gn was the mini starter,i got mine from a board member who bought it from kirbins. Way less heavy and easy to get the wires connected, you can actually get your hand in there.

I had to lengthen the the smaller gauge wire(s?) I know I did one wire. Can't remember if I did more than one wire? The battery cable was fine.

Guy
I made a jumper wire from both fusible link wires to the big starter terminal and bolted the two fuse wires to the jumper.
