87 GN mostly stock. Have been chasing a bad miss for a while now and its getting worse. I have the LT1 maf and translator and wondering if this is where my trouble is. My question at this point is -- if a maf is going out do you always get a code? I get no codes even when it misses badly.
Also, what can I learn by disconnecting the maf?
Thanks for any tips you may have.

for miss look to ignition , valvetrain

all stock could be a#3 cam journal/lifter gone flat
test the coilpack/ign module , 2-5 center coil is a common failure

unplug one injector at a time and see if you can isolate which cylinder ,
you could also inspect the plugs and wires looking for a cylinder thats not firing
while plugs are out do a compression test
could be broken spring or pushrod bent , broken rocker shaft(very common) .. pull the valve covers and have a look
