Bad ECM :(

I hope this isn't a 'welcome to last year' post, but my ECM is toast. I have an '89 TTA, and was wondering where I could get mine repaired, or where/how to get a replacement.

I'm a newbie with the 3.8 turbo-six. Any help is much appreciated.

This is from Turbofish38 on here.
I have been pretty successful finding these and using them.

"The only non turbo cars ECM 1227148 came in is 1986:
Buick: Park Ave,LeSabre,Century
Olds: Regency98,Delta88,Ciera
The 8th character of the VIN will be the letter B or the number 3.
They are only found in the 1986 model year."
Don't forget to change your calpak and chip.

I'm not sure what you mean by all of this. The '89 TTA has a turbocharger. Are you saying I should get an '86 'non-turbo' ECM for replacement?

Also, what is the calpak?

i cant help you on the ecm #s but the cal pack is the small chip next to the main chip in the ecm. also depending what is wrong with your old ECM Bob Bailey aka TurboBob might be able to help you out on getting it repaired

CORRECT! 1986 the cars had coilpacks like our cars. 1987 fwd had a different ecm, so did 1985 as they had a distributor still.
I got the info from Turbofish38, I believe he worked for GM at this time.
I have used several ecms from these cars and they are the same and work fine.

Or if you wan't I can sell you an original TTA ecm for $150:wink:
Or a GN one for $75
Of course I am kidding on the prices, they are the same ecms don't let someone rip you off.
I think Red Regal on here sells them for $75-$85.
