anyone have a hardtime pumping gas??

When i filled for the first time after buying my 87 I had to check the gauge I knew the tank was empty and putting in 5 gals would not fill it. So i had to wiggle it around to fill it all the way up. Must be the new pumps...

For the go-go juice to go in Air has to get out. Check your gas tank vent...

For a really fast fill-up, install a vacuum pump in the trunk via a 1/2 line to your tank. Next time you fill 'er up turn on the Pump pull a 15" vac. and dump 15 gallons in 7.5 secs.

NASCAR fillups, Now that's performance
:p

That's so crazy it just might work!

I know with my bad cannister check valve I could purge the gas tank with 15 PSI.....

You can also get those stay down plate brackets of the old caprices, roadmasters and impalas.

why? our cars have a place to put the gas cap that makes the plate stay down. its a little bracket looking deal to the top right of the plate, its rounded on both sides for the cap to slip inplace.

Exactly, the cap will hold it down.

I've had the car since new...no problems.

Maybe try one click less on the pump lock. Some pumps have more pressure.

FOR YOU PEOPLE THAT ARE SET IN YOUR WAYS AND DON'T LIKE CHICKS .......I CAN'T HELP YA. :p

I use my cap as a wedge to hold the plate open too. It also keeps it from getting lost incase you drive off without putting the cap back on. Not that I've ever done that or anything...

I still like chicks, though! :D Oh yeah!

I agree, the gas cap holds the plate down just fine, I figured that out the first time i filled up. I just wonder how many people have not yet discovered this. Do all you guys looking to buy the stay down plate now hold it down while you refill?

I was wondering what all the talk about the stay down plate was. I stick the cap in the little holder so the plate stays down and everything works just fine.

The stay down plate was causing too much trouble. After installing it, I had chicks flocking to the back of my gn. After turning one of those flockers into a girlfriend, she made me take off the stay down plate because there were still too many of those flockers around my car!! ;)

Electric door??

Hey Red,

How 'bout an electric pushbutton door??? Come on?? James Bond time... Imagine the flocks you'll have. What's next?? In flight refueling??

Y'all know the only reason ya have the license plate stay down is so you can gas up and roll outta the gas station without paying!!! What about those pesky redlight cameras?? Flipping off state troopers in the middle of the night??

See.. I'm thinking outside of the box.

You guys who don't wish to have an easier to use staydown gas door.........I know your type. First of all, it can't be better because it only cost $15. You're more into $800 roller camshafts. You're afraid it'll depreciate your "low mileage" TR because it's not original. Can't fool you guys with painted bezels or wheel mouldings.....well........ NO CHICKS FOR YOU! :p

Where is vent line?

Mine was like that until I put a new fuel pump in and noticed a crappy vent line....cleaned it and I can let the pump do it's thing at "full pump".

Can you please describe where the fuel vent line is located....or send pictures.

Not that Red's stay down isn't good, but I agree the cap works fine for me.

I always thought it was just my tank but I just installed a new one and it does the same thing it drives me nuts sometimes because it just keeps kicking off. My wife made me take my stay down off, sometimes it was like I was one of the beatles chicks ripping my clothes off and stuff, a couple of time it got ugly!:D

If the pump clicks off, which all of my G-bodies do when the tank is really low, try inserting the nozzle into the tank just far enough to open the spring loaded flapper and wait about 6 seconds, then begin pumping slowly, gradually increasing to full.

Works for me every time.

No stay down for me either, I already have to young boys, they keep me down as it is.;)

I used to have the problem with the pump. Since I put in my new fuel pump I can pump gas as fast as I want, anywhere I want. On another note this stay down gas cap sounds like the bomb!!Not that it's hard to pick up chicks in a GN anyway
