I'm thinking about installing a 2004r in my '40 Ford behind an LT1. Price seems cheap. Do you think this would be safe?

One month a year they give a warranty? Being sarcastic but you had better know the terms--who pays shipping if it does not work, etc.

You're getting a rebuilt trannie with a $49 rebuild kit>>>

The trannie will likely work just fine but important things like shift points will be like playing Russian roulette. The rebuilder will use whatever valve body and govenor comes down the line for the trannie so the trannie could shift like an old diesel or a GN but guess with is more likely.

Sounds like you are building a fine ride. Why not get a fine trannie to go with that LT1 that will shift at 5500 RPM when you put the hammer down instead of 3400 RPM.

The transmission is really more important for a nice rod than the motor. You'd be better off with a rebuilt 283 and a strong properly shifting trannie than a hot motor and a "servicable" trannie that never gives you the potential the motor has to offer.

Take a look at http://www.2004rperformancecenter.com/ Also, I think that PTS has a trannie builder out there in TX that uses PTS billet parts.

Invest as much in the trannie as the motor and enjoy your ride!

Doesn't look to be a BRF valve body, doubtful it will hold up, or perform the way you would like it to.

I went cheap on mine 3 times in one year, $4,000 later I called Bruce. You can pay now or pay two or three times later.
