Any local Mechs that have the know how to rebuild a Turbo Buick?

Not looking for a Turbo Buick Specialist. Just someone that can do a rebuild and knows the little Turbo Buick "must know items". Have seen many people have there local garage rebuild there motors and destroy the motor when they use the wrong head gasket. Just an example....I don't know all the tricks.

You can always have a shop build the bottom end and you assemble the top half.

Oh... and if this is for that 86... youre welcome to use the core motor as Ed had planned to... after all its already dismembered.

Ed said something about an engine that someone has. His plan was to rebuild it and use the current engine as a core. Not sure who all the players are. I have been here for years and emailed back and forth to many on this forum but don't know who is who. I just know email handles. Drove the car for a while yesterday. Seems to drive well. I'm just worried about the miles. It's all in my head right now, nothing wrong.....yet. Just trying to figure out what my options are. Not going wild with the car. Even though that's what I would LIKE to do. Don't think I can afford a full rebuild. Don't have the skill/time to pull the motor and drop it off at a shop. Would need drop it off and pick it up. Trying to find a shop so I can get some number$ and figure out what is the best choice "in my price range". Ed mentioned some machine shops..... PME and Ted.

High mileage?..

I wouldn't worry about it unless you have some major issues with the engine. Besides, it's not like you are going racing here anytime soon.

Fix whatever is leaking, upgrade a few of the basics and enjoy!...

Ryan... that core motor is mine and if you need it, it is already torn down. Ed still has it stored as I have no place for it. motor had 126K (I think) and was in pretty good shape... even the TC gear had all the nylon and the motor had never been apart. One of the main bearings was pretty ugly, but not spun. This might have been damage from all the time it spent sitting before I tossed a battery in the car and fired it up without priming the oil system.

No cam/lifters, T/C (went in the trash) and I have ALL the accessories in a big bin in storage. I also have a shortblock good for hardware.... as I didnt mark the other stuff.

PME, Teds, Schneiders (sp)

the motors are stout in stock form. Ed and I discussed good pistons, and cam, timing set, etc... the rest is clearances according to spec, mainly in the timing cover (oil pump)

His car had inconsistent drivability issues.... I dont think they are actually motor related... it'd run good then just crap out... (MAF?) Other than that it'd run fine.

Thanks for the offer. That is very generous of you. I may take you up on that offer. I still don't know your name....just your call sign on this sight. Not sure if I have chatted with you in the past.

Drove the car a while the first day. Did not die while I was driving. Drove from Ewa to Town and back to Kailua with about a half dozen stops. Car sat for a couple days. I started it last night...... it cranked for a while before it started up. Not sure if that is cause of the high mileage or ?????? I'll figure stuff out one by one. I'm rusty at the Turbo Buick game.

I'm Rob... I met you when you were moving.. got the plexi lic plate, the turbo cover and the expresso machine... :)

Ah. I remember. Thought that might be you. If I do a rebuild I may take you up on that offer. Hope we have a get together soon. Funny....bout the espresso machine. I have another espresso machine in the garage. I just found it. Not sure what it is with us an espresso machines. I still don't know how to properly use one. I'll bring it to the next get together an give it to someone.
