And so it begins.............

Now both heads are installed and the studs retorqued after a 1/2 hour after initial final torque. (Torqued in 4 steps). Using factory style head gaskets. (Donated Victor gasket set). One step closer.

Update on build. Only need to install a few external pieces and preserve and get ready to ship.

Done! Thanks everyone for the parts sent to me. I had a 62mm throttle body and ported dog house I also threw in. My old friend Dale Robertson did the mods to the TB. RIP Dale. (BadassL).
Added a new 160° thermostat, new over heat water sensor, new AC Delco water pump (donated) and a many many cans of brake cleaner, rags, lube, and paint. The rockers and cam are donated parts, along with the intake and timing cover. I just added a bunch of time cleaning and porting. Had a tough time digging through my bolt bins finding enough to clean, paint and install all the parts. I probably would have been money/time ahead buying new stuff, but I am stubborn and don't throw in the towel, especially when I know I have what I need. (Besides, I need to get rid of some of this stuff after 28 yrs of building these things)
So, here are the final pics to post and now I will build a crate (the part I hate doing the most) and get it shipped out to Jay. Jay, I hope this fulfills your needs, and fills a void in your life. Start it, hit it with boost, and go race it. It should be able to run solid ten second 1/4 miles. Merry (early) Christmas!

KEN and everyone, thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart to the top. I can't express the gratitude I have for everyone. I don't usually tear up to much but I had a few these last updates. I don't know what else to say.... I am beside myself. You all have helped make a dream come true.

It because of the parts you donated that helped it all come together! I am very appreciative of that and all the other donations. I know I can't pay everyone back, but I will pay it forward! Thank you so much for your help!

And so it ends...........for me anyway. Engine is on its way to Canton Illinois. On Thursday, I dropped it off at Fastenal to be shipped to Jay. Hope this makes his New Year BRIGHT!!
This is probably the LAST Buick V6 I will build. Been a long haul and I need to now do things for me. I'm sure I'll get roped into projects for good friends, but...........I'm done guys! 28+ years of favors takes its toll. I'll check in now and then. Thanks for the good times.

I am sorry for being late on thanking everyone but to especially thanking Ken! Grandpa has been in the hospital this holiday season, not doing well. At near 96 years young he has had a remarkable life by his own accounts, but he has reminded me how blessed we have all been. He hasn't been with us mentally to understand how blessed my family has been by the Buick family. But we have been blessed!
Ken, I wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart for this. I feel honored beyond what you can possibly know for spear heading this project and everyone donating parts and money to make this happen for me!
The next step for me is to get it put into the body. I have not yet been able to find someone to help with the body, but I will keep working at it. I have never done body work, so maybe this is a learning time.
Once the motor arrives I will be posting pics of it from the arrival and install. Ken, thank you again. To those who donated to me, I hope to one day pay it forward! I have 1 more semester of school and then the job hunt begins again!

Jay

The engine should be there now or very soon. I tried to check via Fastenal's website with no luck. Hope you have it tomorrow.

Ken,

It is actually not here yet. But that's ok for now, we are at Gpas bedside. Things are not doing well. But we are all having a good time going over the old days. Reminiscing (sp?). We have come from different corners. It's amazing what illness can do for a family. Enjoy your family while you can, that includes our buick family!

It has arrived. Jay has his hands full with the passing of his Grandpa. Sorry you have to deal with this, especially this time of year. Hope everything is good the rest of the year.

I am sorry for you loss Jay. I hope you all get through everything OK. I know what losing a Grandfather is like.

Ken you are the man. I thank you for helping Jay out like you have. I remember talking to him in Bowling Green and he was just about ready to throw in the towel on his car. Your offer to help has made all the difference for him. I wish I could have helped more than I did but hey an engine can't run without pistons, right?:) I know all to well what it feels like to have "The Guys" come together and pull you through a really tough spot. GN Gal is one of the guys....the prettiest one. May the 'force' be with ya'll....the 'force-fed'.

Thanks Clay. Just doing what I can to help a fellow Buick guy out. When I can pay it forward, I try. (Sometimes I say NO, Though!!!!). I am trying to quit saying "yes" after 29 years of saying "YES". I should have got a receipt for all the help I volunteered................ Just in case Heaven is like the IRS!!!!

Come on Jay..................unscrew the box, and have a look-see of your new engine. "You're killin me Smalls!". LOL!

Sorry guys. It's been an up and down weekend! I sent a friend to get the motor for me last week. He is unloading it with a tractor and putting it in the garage in the pic below. He helped me get the box unscrewed. The swing of emotion fellas was unreal. I waited a day to go any further because I didn't have any plastic wrap to rewrap the motor. I was the happiest kid on the block. I know gpa was smiling down! Friday morning We took the straps off, and cut the plastic wrap off. What a beautiful site! The attention to detail. I was already tearing up because it was gpa visitation and having a rough day of it. That helped alot! Ken, you have great timing. There is a couple more pics attached. We opened the crate the rest of the way and got the motor lift out and put it on the engine stand. Then we rewrapped it.

I express my gratitude enough. Words just don't say enough! On Sat we finally laid gpa to rest, I know he was looking down. I will get the body home soon and get started on putting it in. I will keep posting pics of progress. Thanks again everyone! Without you all this would not be going on.
