I posted in the junkyard dogs section but i thought you hot air guys would be the guys that would know. 84 turbo Riv.Injected 3.8,turbo.Are the blocks and cranks the same as rear drive regals used?Ran across one in the salvage and was thinking about saveing it.

BUY THAT ENGINE!! NO oil return boss though

THE BLOCK IS A PUNCHED LIFTER VALLEY OIL RETURN as oppossed to the 109drilled lifter valley block in the 86-87 grand national, heads are 8445, crank is 229 rolled fillet but the deck height is taller than the intercooled car block by several thousanths which is not a problem, I have both cars turbo riviera and 87 GN and also had a T-type riviera which I no longer own.

If you buy that complete engine, I will offer to buy the headers , and complete turbocharger from you.

Eric Fisher is an expert on the turbo riviera and a gm parts specialist, you may call him @ G-body parts and he can fill you in,

Lot of good parts on that engine!!

Best regards, Turbo E38

As far as the long block goes everything is the same. The only exceptions are the:
Oil pan and pick up screen.
There is a hole in the back of the block for the turbo drain.
The SFI Riviera uses the old carb-turbo camshaft.

Everything else is the same more or less.

Eric is correct

14 bolt oil pan on 84 block means you will have to find a 14 bolt reagal oil pan and oil pick up tube.

Eric, I got the anti-rattle strips yesterday, Thank you
