02 sensor question

Could a bad 02 sensor cause a car to run lean?

I was installing an air fuel gauge, and obviously in doing this you have to mess around with the wires. When I started the car afterwards it ran VERY lean - 02 millivolts never went above 150.

I took a short drive and it ran fine under no boost conditions. I'm afraid to put my foot into it if it is in fact running lean.

Unless you're running a wideband O2, those narrowband A/F gauges are useless. And adding it in probably put an extra load on the O2 wiring that reports to the ECM. Try removing it and see what happens.
