    Flat Tappet vs. Roller

Thanks for the advice. It looks like I'll be calling one of the forum vendors for a roller kit.

    Flat Tappet vs. Roller

What would you recommend? I know zinc was removed from oil and there have been some "soft" cams in the market leading to premature failures. Have those issues been resolved or should I bite the bullet and go with a roller cam. I am not concerned with making huge horsepower numbers - just...

    The PowerMaster Bleeding Procedure

Nasty Wow - Zeus will probably chime in here in a short time but by the looks of your brake fluid in the system... I would look for a rebuilt PM and change out or rebuild your wheel cylinders and calipers. A hard pedle really has not much to do with the condition of shoes, wheel cylinders...

    When converting a regular Regal....

Fuzzy memory here - it is early and my TR is at home and I'm not or I'd check to make sure before posting. I think that one click back is the accessory position, one click forward is the "off" position, two clicks forward is the on/run position, three clicks is of course the start position so...

    Translator install

I just purchased and installed a translator and MAF from F.T. within the last month. Everything connected perfectly. No adapter was needed. This was a translator, not a translator plus or any of the fancy stuff. I agree, you had better call Mike and make sure you have the right parts.

'87 Turbo T was running but now won't start?

If it spins over fast and doesn't fire, the timing chain is the first thing I'd check as posted above.

    Stupid ques but...

I think that most of the TR community believes this is the best on the market today: FULL THROTTLE SPEED - Item Description Page You get the software to read and display what the computer sees and a module that plugs into the computer to give you real time information. You have to take the...

    combination valve,steel or brass?

Prop Valve I checked on the recall. It was for external leakage - no internal issues so if the cast one is not leaking, it is OK per GM. The part is discontinued from GM but you can get it here: Product Info or on flea bay.

    combination valve,steel or brass?

Good question! Mine had the same instructions. I asked quite a few people who I respect and they all said the valve has absolutely nothing to do with the PM system in any way. Could it be contamination from the iron valve breaking down or corroding internally? I'll be real interested in this...

Grand National or Regal T Type

In 1986 the Grand National was an option on the T-Type. The Grand National became a model to itself in 1987. As it was an option, everything was the same on the GN as the T-Type except for the things included in the option package. From memory, it included special badging, wheels...

    MAF trans problem

Thanks bison - happy to hear the problem is being addressed. I'll call Mike on Monday and let him know I am having the same issue. Maybe the problem is not with the TT chip interface - could be a bad batch of translators. It isn't about wanting fancy stuff, it is about getting a setup...

    MAF trans problem

I have the same issue - just replaced the stock maf with the translator and a 3.5" maf. Now the car will not run over 1/4 throttle - much less build any boost. Tried reversing the dip switches and it is much worse. The connectors look right as they will only lock one way. I also have a TT...

    Powermaster maintenance question

It SHOULD be a sticky. Great write-up on an often overlooked but critical TR component. Maybe you could forward it to Ken at gnttype.org and/or Steve at turbobuicks.com (or www.vortex-buicks-etc.com)? This information is too valuable to disappear. JMO Thanks.

    Powermaster maintenance question

For the fluid on the pass side, about the best you can do is pump the brakes about 15 times with the key off. This will empty all of the fluid out of the accumulator ball. You can use something like a turkey baster to carefully suck the fluid out. Of course, don't let it get anywhere near...
