    TH400/ Thrust Bearing

I will have to assume that CK is somehow thinking about an open chamber, I.E. Air Pressure will have more pressure with more volume. The taller column of air would exert more downward pressure than that found in a higher altitude, all things being equal. In a closed chamber as in a Clutch Drum...

    help! transmission shifting problems!

To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the 'D' shaped lock button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting (The black housing that the metal cable is in will move forward). Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all...

    transmission question on a 1992 Lesabre 3800

I would not recommend doing the Rev Test on this tranny as it could CAUSE the original design to frag. If you have however NOTICED the noise then Don could be right about this. Oh, another thing, has anyone here priced the GM Reverse Drum (the stovepipe) for one of these lately? In case anyone...

    transmission question on a 1992 Lesabre 3800

I'll try this question again and maybe this time I'll get an answer: Suppose you had someone you trust, using the parts you specified or again trusted the opinion of said builders selection; How much would YOU charge to warranty this front wheel overdrive transaxle for one year from the moment...

    transmission question on a 1992 Lesabre 3800

To add to what has already been said, these units have a Thermal Blocking Valve that keeps the oil level higher until a certain temperature is reached. Then, unlike on a regular tranny where the fluid level will rise as it heats up this will suddenly drop. The test to see if you have it hot...

A non Buick tranny ? (AOD)

First take a look at the TV cable, especially the bushings. it is very common to have problems in that area and is easy to fix. Otherwise these have lots of "issues".

    Pump Modifications

I see allot of people who want the 13 vane pump update but in my opinion the only advantage is that if you have wear in the pump slide and/or vanes, it is good to install new parts for better pressure hot. With that in mind, again, IMO, even the seven vane pump is fine if all is OK. What really...

    Installing Non Lock-Up Valve

Sorry I am not familiar with that one. TransGo however makes a valve for Non-Lock converters that goes right into the pump W/O pulling it. It keeps the lube circuit flowing properly with the different converter.

    Weird tranny question

Are you sure you aren't noticing L/U disengaging and reengaging?

How much should I pay to have a shift kit installed?

Let me try this again, without the tongue in cheek. If you have the right guy do the job he will know more than just what the instructions say to do. Certain changes that may be needed, either in addition to or as one of the selections in a VB kit. That alone can be worth more than that price...

    Opinions on a 700 r4, easy fix?

It sounds like the common sticking Throttle Valve. This is one of the most common problems in a 700 and real easy to fix and keep fixed. I use the TransGo Jr. Shift Kit in a year such as yours since the original timing is essentially OK. I have used tons of these to fix this and other problems...

How much should I pay to have a shift kit installed?

    A) It is a true statement. B) Since I often hear people complain about the cost of transmission work I thought I would make a point, in other words, you get what you pay for. This was not necessarily directed at any one person.

No 2-3 shift under WOT, any ideas?

The TransGo kit does NOT mess with TV Limit.

How much should I pay to have a shift kit installed?

I know a guy that will 'rebuild' your tranny for $75. Want his number?

New trans won't downshift to 1st

Larger boost valves won't affect idle pressure since you (shouldn't) don't have Modulated TV sent to it yet unless the TV setting is wrong. This should also increase the force holding the valve downshifted too but it could explain higher than normal minimum pressure. Try this: To adjust the TV...

    Proper TV CAble setting procedure???

To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the D button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting. Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have...

    200R WOT upshift RPM

"Nother Q for you too. Does the govenor run off the output shaft of the tranny? If so, then the output shaft is controlled mainly by vehicle speed, except in the case of wheel spin. Hence raise the vehicle shift speed...raise the shift rpm is the byproduct. Is this a correct assumption?" You...

Can someone describe the overrun clutch in detail?

The Overrun clutches are there to keep the Input Roller clutch from back spinning when you let off the gas. It is what allows you to have engine braking but more importantly it keeps some of the shock off of the roller if you have it in D,2 or 1 when you get on and off the gas as it doesn't have...

Attn Bruce Tolle, we need a resolution

Being in the business I know that running out of parts DOES happen despite the best efforts. A special part that is ONLY available in one place is out of his control. I have seen people wait MONTHS to locate a part (I don't know how the people do it but WE didn't break the tranny in the first...
