I need to have my TA49 rebuilt. I know about the usual players (Gpop, Limit), but is there a shop around Metro Detroit? I'd like to walk it in and walk it out. I hate to ship my stuff 1/2 across the country each way if I don't have to. Anyone? Thanks.

I drove the GN all evening tonight (big smile now that my AC is fixed) in 90 deg weather - no smoke or smell at all. The "lightly used" TA49 needs to be rebuilt. I'm not sure where to send it. Seems like a rebuild will be $350+. Wondering about buying the $599 TE44 new and selling the TA49...

Bignikk hit the nail on the head. I just ran the car for a while with the original stock turbo back on it (but still kept the 42# injectors and TT chip) and no smoke and no stink. I will run it more tomorrow to be sure, but I think my "new" turbo needs to be rebuilt. I'll post again...

Yes, I did tell TT which injectors....and it is written on the chip. Kind the drain? What does that mean? I will take a look I guess.

Best place to send it for rebuild? What does that usually cost?

I bought a used ta49 turbo and it came to me with no elbow. I read on Kirbans site that you are supposed to re-use the stock elbow so I tried to do that. When I was bolting them up I noticed that the inside of the TA49 does not really match the inside of the stock elbow. Is this the way...

Looking for a set of used slicks mounted on stock or similar wheels. I'd like to run slicks without having to modify the car at all (roll fender lip or notch frame). I'm located in Michigan and have cash.

Honestly, I just wanted the heat shield to bolt in place. I really don't care that much about looking stock. I thought that the heat shield wouldn't fit on the TE44? If it bolts in place the decision is made.
