Newby TA49 elbow question

I bought a used ta49 turbo and it came to me with no elbow. I read on Kirbans site that you are supposed to re-use the stock elbow so I tried to do that.

When I was bolting them up I noticed that the inside of the TA49 does not really match the inside of the stock elbow. Is this the way it is supposed to be? Or is there a special elbow for the TA49?

I have read that people have "ported" their elbow. I'm wondering if that is just when people try to grind down the mismatching between the TA49 and stock elbow to minimize the "steps".

So, can I continue and use the stock elbow? Thanks in advance.

Ported elbow

When I changed to the 49, I bought a ported elbow off a board member.
If you contact Steve V on the board, I think he may still have an old ported elbow.
IMO, the stock elbow should work. The porting is just to smooth out the exhaust flow.
My 49 spools like a stocker with a ported elbow, 2.5 mandrel bent downpipe and a restalled D5.
