1986 GN project in SF Bay area - 95% complete car

Additional pics and info I finally managed to get some pictures of the interior and was mistaken about the mileage as it actually has 136K miles on it. I also confirmed that it does in fact have a posi differential based on the G80 code I found on the build sticker. Let me know if you have...

Degreeing a camshaft - needed or not?

I'm about to install a camshaft in a motor I'm rebuilding and although this might be a stupid question, I'd like to know if degreeing it is really necessary. I've replaced camshafts in several different motors over the years and have always just lined up the dots on the timing gears and have...

Crank bolt - where to buy a new one?

Does anybody happen to know that dimensions of the bolts? Napa Auto has several different sizes of Grade 8 bolts so if I could find out the size I'd need I might be able to go that route instead.

Crank bolt - where to buy a new one?

Probably a dumb question but does anybody know where I can buy a new one? I'm in the process of putting my motor back together and as I install each additional piston it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep turning it over to make sure the pistons aren't binding up. Thanks in...

Mickey Thompson ET Street drag racing tires

Yeah, that's kinda what I thought. I had them mounted on a 9-1/2" rim and it ended up being a little wider than the tire. My guess is that with an 8" rim they'll be wider than the rim but probably not by much.

Mickey Thompson ET Street drag racing tires

Somebody can correct me if I’m wrong, but I think that the backspacing is more an issue of whether the rim will fit on the car properly and not whether the tire will fit on the rim. As for the width of the rim, MT’s website suggests a minimum width of 8.5” (based on the 9.5” tread width of...

Mickey Thompson ET Street drag racing tires

I just bought these on March 11th but decided that I want to go with the ET Street Radials instead: Mickey Thompson Performance Tires & Wheels They're the 17" size (26X11.50-17LT to be exact) and only have 6 passes on them (all from last week at Infineon Raceway). I paid just under...

Is this a good deal for a used motor?

I told the guy that I wanted to pull the pan as well as do a compression test but he said that it's currently sitting on a wooden pallet with the transmission still attached. He didn't say that I couldn't do the tests, but didn't seem too interested in trying to facilitate them. I believe in...
