Know it doesn't belong here but maybe someone in this area is looking for a one or a project car. The car is posted in the car sale area.
Lots of potential...
Just an update:
Got the valve cover gaskets in. How anyone did it with out removing the Turbo I don't know but congrats.
Guess the next thing is to get a boost gauge installed and see what this thing is pushing. The car does go into the red faster since installing a new PCV, don't know...
I am referring to the valve that sits directly on top of the turbo unit. There is an arm that comes off to the left as you are looking at the motor and it appears to open a waste gate. It is vacuum operated.
I take it this is normal then. Seems odd that this would be this hard to tunr with the vacuum actuator hooked up. Grommets should be in soon, so in it all goes sometime this week.
Just wondering if the bypass valve actuator should be this hard to turn. Have to use a set of pliers to move the valve while it is hooked up to that vac valve.
Does thing need to be replaced? Is it a good idea to replace the egr as well, while this thing is apart? Might as well get most...
Thanks for the assist. I will see if this thing can be crossed somehow. If it turns out to be dealer only that is fine too, need to order some truck parts while there.
Anyone out there have the P/N for the grommet that fits around the Turbo oil return into the manifold. This is the only thing that is holding up progress. For some reason the auto part stores around here are not showing the part.
Thanks.
Turbo is off. Think most of the oil was coming from the PCV and Valve covers on that side. Everything appears in good shape for an engine with 114,000. The PCV even looks like the one from 83. Don't think it was ever changed. Even though it may look like trash I am going to find away to get...
Yeah, we all have to have a dream.
Guess I will dig out the manuals to get this turbo off. It ought to be fun. This is the last time I by a car from a little old lady. :D
Just found this section. Good questions on why no Cali posts.
I am out here in the Mojave desert, the only T for miles. There is a GN in Kernville but that is the nearest one I have ever seen.
Been awhile since I have posted. Still having problems I believe with the secondaries but that is an issue for another day.
There seems to be a pool of oil building on top of the tranny. As you well know you can't see for squat back there but my question is this, should I go ahead and...
Typical questions here:
Any real difficulty in doing this?
How much are replacement parts?
Where? (hopefully not just a dealer item)
Any special tools required/needed?
This is the drivers side. The motor is intermittent. It may even be a switch problem.
On a seperate note:
A...
