    83 TR engine parts questions

Kevin, The cranks are the same. That sucks about your turbo. If the housings are intact (probably not), you can get a new cartridge off a ebay cheap. Your right about the downpipe, when I had my exhaust done, the guy had to make a new crossover too, because the old one wouldn't fit...

    Even more carb problems!! Yay!

update: I change to a set of Champion copper plugs gapped @ 60. Adjusted the timing, did a compression test (came out good), and put a bit of Marvel Mystery Oil in the tank. Results: It idles cleaner... the smoke is gone, but when given gas, it still smokes a bit. I leaned out the mixture...

    Even more carb problems!! Yay!

thanks for the info, I pulled the carb top off today, and adjusted it all the way in, then went one more turn out on the mixture screws. The power valve's nice and springy. It's better, but still rich... The plugs are fouled again, so I'll pick up some plugs and a timing...

    Even more carb problems!! Yay!

Hello again, Well, I finally gave up on the holley carb. I went back to the quadrajet, and am now having a bit more problems. The car is still running rich. It'll start up, but black smoke pours out the tailpipe. I found a good deal on a MSD setup, billet distributor and box fairly cheap...

    Holley tuning

the power valve is manifold referenced with a check valve. I'll adjust the floats again, and let you know. It runs rich at idle, and when i floor it, it stumbles really bad. I'll try changing the jets, and let you know. thanks

    Holley tuning

depending on the timing (which i'm trying to figure out), it pulls anywhere from 8 to 16 inches of vacuum (according to the boost guage). The float is not too high... wait... should I adust the float when the car is running? I adjusted it when it wasn't. The cam is a lunati 200 cam. thanks

    Holley tuning

Hi guys, I having a hard time getting the new carb to run right. It's running really rich (black smoke). The idle screws are out 3 1/2 turns. The primary jets are 64, and the secondary jets are 85, power valve is 6.5. Should I go down a jet or two? Any idea's / comments?

    Looking for a Carb bracket

Fred, I did get your e-mail. Sorry I took so long to reply, I've had the flu for a week :( Anyway, I checked the garage and I found the throttle cable bracket, but not the bracket that holds the plenum to the head. Sorry. It's bead blasted and painted black. If you still want it...
