No I haven't changed the cam yet, but am also looking at the edelbrock cam. I am pretty sure you will have no problem with clearance with the edelbrock cam. It is made for a stock engine for 79 and up engines I believe. But I would give edelbrock a phone call just to be sure. If you have any...
if it's an edelbrock carb you're fine. they arent electronic. To lean out the mixture while driving you would have to get replacement rods and jets for that particular carb. Find out which edelbrock carb you have and search for the calibration kit on the net.
Thanks for the reply. i advanced it from 15 to 17 today and it seemed to be an improvement. Would you say that I could keep advancing a degree or so at a time give a test drive and at the first sign of knocking or pinging back the timing off a little and that would be my best timing...
when I set the mixture i tuned the screws in until I got an idle drop and then screwed them out about a 1/2 turn for highest idle. Would that be "best lean"?
How did you arrive at 42 total advance? What was it sitting at for base idle? What kinds of mods had you done?
Thanks
Yea I should ditch all the switches in the intake. All I am really using is the switch for thats connected to the advance, another one connected to a switch on top of the alternator. I'm not sure what that switch is even for, I was thinking maybe a/c which I no longer have installed. And the...
yea no kidding. Thanks for the help. I just got everything hooked up yesterday. What a difference from the stock 2bbl and manifold. She sounds alot nicer too. Are you running the same rods and jets that came with the carb. (I'm guessing you have the 500cfm carb). I was thinking about getting the...
i'm dupperskeez...small world. I just put in the intake and carb with the two thermal vac switches out of my old manifold. the only thing not hooked up is the egr. I followed the deci label under the hood and everything else seemed to hook up. My biggest concern is am I hindering anything if...
okay so the thermal switch is in the manifold and sends a signal to a relay that turns the fan on and off. Doesn't really sound all that complicated. They are two speed fans though so there must be two relays? Anyone know? By the way there is no computer in my 83 Cutlass.
So looking at a GN fan there is one plug on the fan. Is all that is required for wiring from the plug to a temp switch screwed into the intake manifold?
How much is involved to install an electric fan setup off a GN onto a n/a 3.8 with no computer in an 83 Cutlass Supreme. Will the fan bolt right on? How is the fan controlled...electrically? Does the fan come on and stay on at the same speed or does it vary speed depending on temp?
I tried a...
