if it's an edelbrock carb you're fine. they arent electronic. To lean out the mixture while driving you would have to get replacement rods and jets for that particular carb. Find out which edelbrock carb you have and search for the calibration kit on the net.

That adjustment will just help lean out your engine when idling not while driving.

when I set the mixture i tuned the screws in until I got an idle drop and then screwed them out about a 1/2 turn for highest idle. Would that be "best lean"? How did you arrive at 42 total advance? What was it sitting at for base idle? What kinds of mods had you done? Thanks

sorry you kinda lost me. so check for the highest vacuum and the corresponding high idle? then reset the idle and check the mixture?

okay so the thermal switch is in the manifold and sends a signal to a relay that turns the fan on and off. Doesn't really sound all that complicated. They are two speed fans though so there must be two relays? Anyone know? By the way there is no computer in my 83 Cutlass.

So looking at a GN fan there is one plug on the fan. Is all that is required for wiring from the plug to a temp switch screwed into the intake manifold?
