My 86 came with the electric antenna and it’s malfunctioning AGAIN (despite a rebuilt unit less than three years old). It doesn’t fully extend or retract. Actually I never listen to the radio (optional graphic equalizer setup) but the antenna activates whenever I turn it on to listen to my itunes (using an FM modulator to transmit on the FM band) So two questions:
1. What is the easiest way to disconnect the antenna motor so it will just stay in one place all the time but still be connected to the radio. I could leave it partially extended all the time)
2. I am having the car repainted this winter and had planned to put in a new windshield. Would there be any issues if I install a windshield with the built in antenna? I see OPG has them. I am assuming it could be connected to the radio without too much of a fuss. Or not?
