I am thinking about ditching the stock turbo shield this weekend and installing a turbo blanket. Anybody like them or dislike them? I will also be wrapping the downpipe.

thanks,

Adam

Love mine, glad I got rid of that ugly ass turbo shield.

They do keep the heat down under the hood. I've not had any problems with them.

They are functional for sure. They not only keep the under hood temps down like Reggie said, they keep the heat [energy] in the housing.

They work so well, at least mine does that I can rest my hand on it anytime, even after a hard pass or driving for hours.

I had my exhaust housing wrapped under the turbo shield. I do agree, the decrease in under hood temps were nice, although I'm not sure how the center section bearings and seals like the additional heat being held in like that.

I wouldn't wrap the downpipe.... coat it if anything

Turbo89',
I am curious. Why not wrap the down pipe? I was thinking of doing that to mine.....

I did find out the hard way not to wrap the headers. When changing things up I found (5) cracks in the passenger side header because of the headers expanding more due to the increased heat being held in.
My diy mild steel down pipe was fine, but hadn't been on as long. I decided to ceramic coat the new DP as well as the headers.

Street driven more than raced. This is 3 different combos on 2 different engines from high 9s to high 8s.

If you're gonna do a wrap, you need to check out the lava rock exhaust wraps. It's made from crushed volcanic rocks instead of fiberglass. Besides lookin cool, there's lots of benefits to it vs the old fiberglass type wraps. Remember, fiberglass will become brittle and start to crack over time.

DEI does have some nice lava rock wrap with carbon fiber look in a titanium color. It does look cool.

No issues. I even had the crossover wrapped on my old ATR headers.
