A little over 30 minutes ago my dogs started barking, which isn't that unusual, but they didn't want to stop for some reason. I walked outside with a flashlight and didn't see anything so I went back in. They kept barking so I walked back out with the flashlight again and after shining the light around I didn't catch it at first but one of my girls kept barking at a specific location so I put the light there. Well my next move was to grab my 12 gauge and get 1 of the dogs in the house and switch the other one to a different pen for safety. One shot later Here's what was in Baby's pen. DSCF1083.JPG

Anyone that knows where I live knows that we have some interesting critters but I don't like snakes in any way shape or form, no matter what kind they are. We've got copper heads, water moccasins, and rattle snakes around here so I don't take any chances when it comes to snakes.;)

Just keep them critters (and the rest of them) there, Charlie- I don't care for snakes either, and ours don't get near that big!

That's really just a baby Mark. I've seen rattlers over 8 feet long down here and copper heads over 6 ft. After all, everything's bigger in Texas.:D

Yikes!
That's why I live in So Cal.
No copper head or water moccasin problems here. I guess the Gila monsters, scorpions, rattle snakes and mountain lions took care of them all.;)

wow good catch i can't stand snakes . This past weekend i worked on a car everytime i looked down a rat would run out well to make a story short they where living inside with babies sick.

I hate snakes. I have a snake pit under my front porch. The guy next door took down his above ground pool and we had snakes all over the place. So the moved in by me. Haven't seen a mouse since he did it so that's one good thing. You can keep all them critters . Good catch Charlie

it's threads like this that make me wish there was a location listed under everyone's name like there used to be..

So I'm interested how you kill it? Did you use the shotgun?
12 gauge low brass 7 &1/2 shot on a full choke at about 12 feet.;) I live outside of a small town that's 1/2 way in between Waco and DFW Derrik on 25 acres.:D Usually I don't see snakes but I've had coyotes in my front yard once in a while not to mention armadillo, rabbits, feral dogs and cats, and even a local road runner that stalks the property.

I bet that feels nice to be able to shoot anything around your home without the cops showing up at your door. Have lots of family in Texas I do not know and played with the thought about moving but damn don't think I can handle the weather out there. Never been there myself but that is what I hear from people that have gone out there.

Well the weather is fine for me but I know that some just can't handle the temps. I hate the cold so the temps here suit me fine. One other thing to remember is that we don't have state income taxes and no restritions on what weapons we can own.;)

sooooo............... what kind of snake is it???? btw I hate snakes too all kinds and sizes.petrified

What did it taste like???? If it taste like chicken.. chicken snake. And if it taste like shit it is not a chicken snake.
