Forums and Attitudes

I frequent a couple of automotive forums that I have interests in. This one, Slant Six Forum, and Saturn ION RedLine Forums, and its funny how you can see the differences in attitudes in each one. This one and slantsix.org are usually, but not always, made up of people close to my age (in my 40's here) and older people. Most everyone is cool and laidback.

I used to be a sales consultant for a Saturn Dealershipback in the day and drove a few Ion Redlines. I love that car and thought about getting one and still would love to have one for everyday driving. I also realized that if I got one I could have gotten a car I've dreamed of since high school, namely the GN. Which made me start frequenting this forum. And yes I'm dead set on getting a GN or a TR this year.

However on the redline forums I can see the difference in ages. Most guys on there are are of a younger generation and damn if there are some people that can carry some attitudes on there. Not that everyone does. It's more of a generalized thing. Reading through some of the posts, the responses people give, and the way people talk to each other can be quite entertaining.

I can only imagine what its like on a honda forum.

Don't even try to visit the olds forums. The guys have an attitude and most of the time it aint a good one. I won't post what I really thnk of them because your thread would be deleted for language.

lol. Yeah I've seen a few like that. I'll think I'll stick with the ones I frequent.

Although there's gonna be a few at any place on the web, I'd have to say thumbs up to most everyone on here for a good forum.

Im an administrator at Redline Forums and yea, that site definitely has its moments but theyre almost all instigated by the same person over there.

Check out Yellowbullet.com. They'll treat you real good over there, lol.

Well I have to admit I didn't look to see if most were instigated by one person. But then it goes back to theres always one I suppose. lol

I've been a regular here since '98. Unfortunately, most of the "techies" that used to frequent this site have left for one reason or another or do not post much anymore. It's pretty hard to find anyone with experience willing to give you pointers or save you from your mistakes but there are some old threads with good info if you search.

+1, thats where all the cool kids hang out and smoke cigarettes

On the nissan site I go on, I always get a good laugh about everyones "build" threads , yeah a beat-up 240 with flat black paint and a dildo shift knob is a "build" thread. Whats even worse is some people tell them how cool it is

lol at dildo shift knob. The flat black 75% primer paint seems std equipment on those these days

haven't gotten heavy into the tech stuff yet but I've already run into a lot of info on here and glad to do so. maybe I'll be up in the 'techie' ranks someday

That's how I started and will tell you, "may God help you" when you get there. I get around 200 PM, emails, ect every day so be prepaired. I think that's why bison (Brian) killed his email and PM's.:frown:

On one of our local racing forums everyone seems to sit around and talk how fast their car was that hasn't run in 3 years. They even call folks out.

Speaking of which, how did the new times come out for spring 2010 Al? Time to change the sig, isn't it?

EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE I JUMP ON TO TELL THEM WHERE TO PLACE THE LIGHTNING RODS & TO REMIND THEM I BEATEM WITH MY BUICK V6

and when's the last time you've had Olds guys asking to run their naturally aspirated Olds V-8's at a turbo buick class event, and then going around on forums whining about it? Clubs/groups have to set a precedent, or the next time they try to get on the Indy track they'll have 80 people with cars having nothing to do with the club asking to be allowed out.

I guess it's easier to come on the forums and whine about everybody else being the "richard," rather than respect the rules/decisions of a club...
